“The next conservative President [should]… start with deleting the terms sexual orientation, gender identity, diversity, equity, and inclusion, gender, gender equality, gender equity, gender awareness, gender-sensitive… out of every federal rule, agency regulation, contract, grant, regulation, and piece of legislation that exists.” (Foreword, page 5)

Project 2025 will effectively erase decades of advancements in general inclusivity practices of the LGBTQIA+ community. The playbook instructs the next conservative President to literally delete terms like diversity, gender, and sexual orientation from any and all legislation in the federal government. Next, it demands that relevant federal organizations withdraw all guidelines to, recommendations of, and support for gender-affirming care. Therapy and hormone treatments like puberty blockers are highlighted to be discontinued, which are the two most common types of gender-affirming care. Cisgender kids also use hormone treatments, for a variety of personal medical reasons, including to delay the onset of precocious puberty. For transgender and nonbinary children and adolescents, early gender-affirming care is crucial to overall health and well-being, and improves the mental health of gender diverse children and adolescents. This care is patient-centered and treats individuals holistically, aligning their outward physical traits with their gender identity, and is, for a significant portion of the transgender community, literally lifesaving. To obliterate the identity of and essential medical care for nearly 8% of the entire American population would be nothing short of a genocide.
