The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission “should not use environmental issues like climate change as a reason to stop LNG [Liquid Natural Gas] projects… [and] should ensure that the natural gas pipelines that are needed deliver more of the product to market” (General Welfare, Dept. of Energy, Page 408)

This policy is harmful because it disregards the significant environmental and public health impacts of LNG projects. Ignoring climate change in the approval process will lead to increased greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to global warming and associated health problems, disproportionately affecting marginalized communities who often live in areas more vulnerable to environmental hazards.

Additionally, this idea is harmful to AAPI communities because it disregards the significant environmental and public health impacts of LNG projects. Ignoring climate change leads to increased greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to global warming and stronger environmental disasters like hurricanes, cyclones, tsunamis, and wildfires. These disasters often disproportionately affect areas in which AAPI people live.
