“Eliminate the new Housing Supply Fund” (General Welfare, Dept. of Housing, Page 509)

The Housing Supply Fund was part of an effort to close the gap in available housing within five years by making it easier to build affordable housing and reduce barriers to construction and preservation. For example, it rewards zoning reforms, offers new financing mechanisms for different types of structures, and more. If eliminated, could increase housing shortage, raise housing costs, reduce economic mobility, strain local communities, and distort the market. However, the proposal now suggests doing away with this fund. For more information, see this one-pager by the Banking, Housing, & Urban Affairs committee.
